L. Nuby

INUBY

Lester Nuby III is a multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter hailing from Birmingham, AL, born in 1974.

Coming from an extended family of musicians, playing many instruments came naturally to him. Nuby has toured and recorded with many artists, including Verbena (Capitol Records), Amy Ray (Indigo Girls), Idlewild (Parlaphone), St. Vincent (Beggars Banquet), Vulture Whale (Ol' Elegante), Waxflight (Los Angeles), The Black Pill (Los Angeles), and Hair Shoes (UK).

Nuby began his musical career with the band Verbena in Birmingham, AL in 1996. Although guitar is his main instrument, Nuby became the drummer by default, or as he puts it, "There wasn't anyone else to do it, so..." After recording an E.P., 3 full length albums, and touring extensively, Verbena came to a close in 2003.

With this newfound freedom, Nuby pursued session work in Los Angeles, and New York while still touring with Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls, and Scottish favorites Idlewild. Without the confines of a "rock" band, Nuby was able to show his many talents on guitar, drums, bass, keys and a vast array of other instruments. All the while, writing and recording demos of his own for a solo release on the horizon.

Nuby blends acoustic and electric guitar, soaring harmonies from days gone by, and driving melodies with lush soundscapes as a backdrop. His first solo release is planned for early 2008.
