The Sways are a husband-wife duo out of Nashville Tennessee made up of guitar player Adam Landry and vocalist Carey Kotsionis. Their recent independent release, “Happy Days are Coming” is a sparkling collection of Americana pop songs that touches on topics that are at the core of human relations – longing, faith, love and loss. Landry and Kotsionis share the roles of songwriting and of singing. The few duets on the album are a treat - their harmonies_ weave together through the melodies beautifully, hand in hand.
The saturated imagery and rolling rhythms of the songs create a lush atmosphere that evokes the California of a generation ago – colorful and relaxed. Kotsionis’ voice, at once delicate and full, and Landry’s lyrical guitar share a dialogue throughout the record that ranges from energetic to reflective, joyful to plaintive, gentle to untamed.
When not writing or performing as The Sways, Kotsionis and Landry have loaned their musical talents to the projects of other Nashville stars. Kotsionis’ resplendent voice joined an array of talent in the studio and on the road with everyone from the country legend Bobby Bare Sr.; alt-country bands Bobby Bare Jr. and Clem Snide; indie rock stars Lou Barlow and David Kilgour; and Grammy nominated R&B/Gospel singer Candi Staton. Landry has rocked his guitar on tours with Allison Moorer and Ray Lamontage. The diversity of their other projects shows the musical strength and depth in this duo.
